It would have taken no more than 800 million years given that some form of cellular life was around at 3.7 billion years BP according to some palaeontological researchers. Allow maybe 100 milllion years for the planet cool off and acquire adequate water.

As for crazy ideas; long may scientists be encouraged to have them. Otherwise they are not doing their job.

It is purposive. Studying how molecules may have reacted in conditions allegedly simulating primordial earth will not explain how life forms. And this study used a special type of RNA:” In laboratory testing, the researchers from TUM and LMU used a model system of RNA bases that join together more easily than naturally occurring bases in our cells today. “We didn’t have millions of years available and wanted an answer quickly,” explains Boekhoven.” So they aren’t using RNA that may have been available billions of years ago. This is another stupid purpose for research funding. Of course, the authors know that: “Some people regard this research as a sort of hobby. During the Covid-19 pandemic, though, everyone saw how important RNA molecules can be, including for vaccines,” says Boekhoven. “So, while our research is striving to answer one of the oldest questions in science, that’s not all: we’re also generating knowledge about RNA that could benefit many people today.” They always have to justify their crazy ideas by saying it will benefit medicine. Maybe if we stop funding this type of nonsense and give funding to lifestyle research we can make health improvements in humans.
